I have been a wheelchair user since the age of 18 and lead a wonderful life by having an amazing wife and a five year old girl named Jude. I was left wondering what my life would be like after a surgery gone wrong but time heels when we allow ourselves to understand that God has a plan for all of us. Dont look back because you have been given a chance to lead a great life. If you require any assistance (personal or financial) I happen to own Better Life Mobility Centers located in La Mesa. It is the hope of learning that has motivated me to produce my next educational hip-hop video on what happened to you and others who were never meant to be shot, but were. The music video "Don't Know Where the Bullet Goes" explores the forces of such an event. Our message is that you think a gun is in your control, but when you shoot a gun there is no guarantee where that bullet will go. Think before you act. I wanted to write an email to you Chris and your family, but the email link doesn't work. I would be honored to meet with you and your family. I just heard some news that if the man who almost killed you is convicted, he could be facing life in prison. It was still wrong for him to shoot you even though it was an accident.

I just wondered if the piano is your favorite instrument. If it is, we both have something in common - the piano is our favorite instrument! Isn't that so cool?

You may have read a letter from me before. I was 10 years old and in the 4th grade at the time. My 11th birthday had passed about 1.5 months ago. Now I am in the 5th grade and still in the same school class, because my class is mixed - it is a class for 4th and 5th graders.

One of my favorite genres of music is R&B. Is your favorite genre of music R&B? I like R&B because of its smooth style. If your favorite music genre is R&B, why is it so?

Thanks to the recovery, it makes me imagine about you getting killed and not surviving. When I imagine that scenario, I realize that it was so unreasonable. It makes me think about a "First 48" episode I watched. "The First 48" is a show about detectives solving homicides, or murders, and catching the killers. One night in Minneapolis, MN, a 32-year-old homeless man named Robert Bavinck (ba' vik) asked two other homeless people, Adam Heldt (held) and Mattie Grassrope, for quitting alcoholic drinking, but Adam shot or beat Robert and killed him. Mattie didn't even call 911! Both suspects were identified by two other people, Nathan, the 911 caller, who led detectives to Mattie, and Ryan, the witness, who led detectives to Adam, also known as "Roach". Thankfully, Adam and Mattie were caught and interrogated, or questioned, about Robert's murder. Adam didn't want to talk; Mattie told detectives everything that happened, and Both suspects were charged. If convicted, Adam faces 15 to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder, and Mattie faces 2 to 3 years for felony aiding an offender.

Robert's mother, Charlotte, reflected on the life of Robert. Because his biologial parents were alcoholics, Robert was adopted by Charlotte at age 9. "He was just loving and happy," Charlotte said. He ran for the homeless at age 18, but then drank alcohol, which led him to homelessness. Charlotte taught a lesson: Some people think that the homeless people don't have families, which isn't true. Robert's okay and is being taken care of.

Alcohol was the main root in this case that brought Adam and Mattie's nasty sides. So the lesson in this case is that you DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL!!!

This "First 48" episode was the main thing I wanted to write to you about. The sentences for Mattie and Adam are far less than the sentence for the man who almost killed you. I hope you feel really happy with this letter.

Love,
John-Paul
Oakland, CA

P.S. To Chris' family - Keep up the good work with Chris. I can see that there are many people who are reaching out to you. This shows that many people have a lot of great love for you. I hope you were able to ask your doctor about the nerve pain medications that I told you about on my message to you on March 25th. ASK YOUR DOCTOR if it could work for you and if it is safe enough for your age group.

I believe that you are a very creative young man and you will do well in life because of your creative edge. There are many people who have physical challenges as our's and we live very active lives; authors, musicians, social activists, business owners, computer programmers, editors, photographers, web designers, and public speakers, to name a few. I can see you doing something very creative as a teenager and as a young adult. I see you getting involved in youth groups who stimulate your intellect and give you a sence of belonging and accomplishment.

My spinal cord injury is at the T12-L1 level and I am very active in my own life. I have written a manuscript about my survival of an airplane crash and I am looking for a publisher. I've written managezine articles and newspaper articles. I've been on radio shows talking about women and disability. I'm writing a speech because I will do some public speaking that will inspire people to reach for their dreams in life.

Check out my new Blog at bog.DonnaAllenLive.com
In my blog, I talk about turning points in life, Resilience, life's meaning, life's purpose, and surviving life.

I wish you much love and happiness as you journey through life. If I thought I could do 5 reps I let the rehab doctors count to 5 and I started at 6.

If you are feeling scared, then you remember your goal and remember this. there can be no hero if there is no fear. My name is Kyleigh Kuhn and I am a UC Berkeley student who founded an organization called the Roots of Peace Penny Campaign. We have raised over $100,000 from students of the Bay Area contributing their quarters, nickels and dimes, of which 100% are dedicated to building schools and soccer fields on former minefields to provide safe grounds for children of war-torn countries. We have built three schools in Afghanistan, providing education for hundreds of children and clearing their lands of mines; weapons left after the guns of war have silenced, claiming life and limb of thousands of children each year.

In some ways, both you and I are fighting for the same cause… the freedom to walk. Chris, if you are interested, I would be honored to work with you in launching our 2009 Penny Campaign. I believe that your message of strength and perseverance over random acts of violence coincides so beautifully with the mission of Roots of Peace. I believe that you can take your story as an opportunity to be a voice for children around the world, and if you are interested in the work that I am involved with, I truly think that it would be such a beautiful way to help you heal emotionally from your struggle as you would literally be leading the way in preventing children and from loosing their ability to walk.

Please visit our website at www.rootsofpeace.org and then click on the “Penny Campaign” to learn more about the organization and see pictures. We will be launching the 2009 Campaign on September 11th at a Bay Area school. If you are willing, I would be so honored if you would speak at the event. Cheryl Jennings of ABC7 News is the co-founder of the organization, so there will be press coverage. Please don’t feel obligated, but do know that whether you choose to work with the Campaign or not, I am touched by your story and truly think you are an amazing individual.

Shine on!!!

~Kyleigh KuhnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3290201312332820902.post-8715404667758022842008-07-29T19:26:00.000-07:002008-07-29T19:26:00.000-07:00Believing that you already have the ability to wal...Believing that you already have the ability to walk unassisted and imagining yourself walking is a powerful treatment.
